Leading trans rights activist Jacqui Gavin joins team DIVA

“Let’s challenge the preconceptions and prejudices of the full spectrum for all who are trans.”

We are thrilled to announce that the latest addition to the DIVA team is leading trans rights campaigner, Jacqui Gavin.

Jacqui's tireless activism has spanned over 30 years, ever since she was outed as a transgender model by the national press. Admirably, she used that platform to help improve the lives and rights of the trans community.

She now works closely with Stonewall and gives talks in schools as an ambassador for anti-bullying charity, Diversity Role Models. She uses her day job as a civil servant in the UK government to improve policy and guidance on trans issues and is an advisory board member for MyGwork, a global recruitment hub for LGBT professionals.

In addition to all these impressive credentials, Jacqui was voted 33 in the inaugural DIVA Power List and 26 in the Pride Power List 2016.

So you can understand why we're so excited to have Jacqui on board.

Jacqui told us:

"I am thrilled to have attained the trust of Linda Riley and her team to join DIVA as a columnist. DIVA has for so long has been a medium for all those who are simply their authentic selves."

She added:

"I hope that my writings demonstrate my passion and the commitment of DIVA to challenge the preconceptions and prejudices of the full spectrum for all who are trans."

Look out for Jacqui's first article in the March issue of DIVA.
