Need some andro style inspo? Follow these lovely folk for some seriously fluid fashion…
BY DANIELLE MUSTARDE
If, like me, you were born without the natural ability to dress yourself but aspire to achieve a look that leans towards andro/tomboy (see the May 2019 issue for more #androstyleinspo in print).
Or, if you’re super femme one day, then masc it up the next, look no further.
We’ve rounded up a few of our most favourite Insta-based, androgynous-leaning lovelies to help fill you and your wardrobe with andro-spiration.
Swedish model-turned-actress Erika Linder is best-known for modeling both masc and femme clothing (she does a great 90s Leo Di Caprio, btw) But in 2016, Linder became just that little better well-known among queer communities after starring in the ever-so-steamy Canadian lez/bi film, Below Her Mouth and recently featured on the cover of Vogue France to top things off.
If you haven’t seen it yet, head over to Netflix immediately.
An andro-spiration essential, Portland-based clothing company Wildfang was founded in 2010 by Emma Mcilroy and Julia Parsley. A home away from home for all badass babes, Wildfang famously collaborated with Katherine Moennig (The L Word, as if you needed reminding) and has been “liberating menswear one bow tie at a time” for almost a decade now.
Check out their suits if you’re feeling flush.
(Wildfang if you’re reading this, open a store in London pls?)

@kelly_nyland took this a couple months before i got on a megabus and moved to LA. i had no idea what would meet me here. i kinda still don’t. but i moved here bc i knew i had to even when it scared me. many parts of my lil story suck, but when good shit happened. wow. sheeesh. so if you’re wondering if you should finally do that thing, fuck it. yes.
YouTuber and filmmaker Ari Fitz makes bloody gorgeous content. From hilarious reaction vids and heartfelt confessionals, to style guides and documentaries, this US-based millenial is definitely one for the fluid fashionistas out there.
If you’re into chunky sneakers, street style and bold and bright colours, Ari’s your gal.
Queer pop icon, record producer, actor, model and HRH, Janelle Monáe, has her fingers in all of the pies. As we all know, Monáe wears her wardrobe very, very well. If you’re into sharp suits, hats and high fashion, Monáe’s the one for you.
