“Jen Brister’s unabashedly honest new show”

BY LIZI TRAFFORD. IMAGE LIZI & JEN AFTER THE SHOW.

Walking into Jen’s gig I already felt I had an affiliation with her, as this was the third time I had seen Jen at the Fringe – her usual style of wit mixed with anger was in full force.

Unabashed honesty about the trials and tribulations of bringing up boys in today’s world with toxic masculinity and broken biscuits abound.

Jen’s newest offering, Under Privilege, made me laugh non stop, but more importantly gave me a reminder to check my privilege, not be a Toby and to laugh in the face of adversity.

A stark reminder that being in the LGBTQI+ family doesn’t mean that we have always been lifting each other up, maybe it’s about time?!
