Come join us for a chat with the one and only Heather Peace in support of akt this Friday
BY SOPHIE GRIFFITHS
As many people have been struggling with the lows of lockdown whilst isolated from friends, family and the wider LGBTQI community, our friends over at akt are bringing us a wonderful event to help bring everyone together (virtually, of course).
The #aktogether sessions is a two-day digital festival that will showcase a wide range of LGBTQI music, comedy, art and drag from all over the UK, as well as panel discussions with members of the community.
The LGBTQI packed festival will take place 21 – 22 May and is available free online.
But of course, donations to the wonderful akt who have made this happen are welcome. Over the past two months they have supported a huge number of young people had nowhere to go, or who were locked down in unsafe and abusive environments.
Don’t miss this chance to support such an incredible charity and all the fun that’s on offer for you over the next couple of days. The line-up features some huge LGBTQI names such as Suzi Ruffell, Lady Phyll, Hannah and Jake Graf and Foxgluv.

Oh, and did we mention what we’re bringing to the table? On Friday 22 May you can catch an exclusive DIVA session with the one and only Heather Peace in support of #aktogether sessions. DIVA are thrilled to be involved and support our friends at akt, and we spoke to Heather about her involvement with the charity as a patron and how she’s been doing. She also played us a fantastic set which you’re gonna love. We’ll see you there!
Charlie Jordin, Digital Officer at akt, said: “We’re really, really pleased to launch the #aktogether sessions this week, bringing together a range of exciting people from within the community who our supporters and young people like and look up to. We hope that the sessions help bring people together while we remain apart from one another, and that anybody who enjoys the content and is able to donates to enable us to continue our vital work”.
The #aktogether sessions take place on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 May across akt and third parties’ social accounts. You can find the full programme here.
Like many businesses, DIVA has been hit hard by the economic impact of coronavirus and we need your help to keep the presses rolling throughout the pandemic. Visit our PayPal fundraising page and give what you can. Your support means the world.
