Some seriously funny ladies to make you LOL

BY KAT HALSTEAD

Chaunté Wayans

Handpicked by Tiffany Haddish to star in her new Netflix series, They Ready, with her own half-hour stand-up special, the buzz is big around Chaunté right now. Her comedy touches on her family (yes, those Wayans) and her experience as an out lesbian comedian.

Wanda Sykes

The Emmy-winner has broken a lot of barriers during her three decades in the business, and is known for her LGBTQI activism. Her latest stand-up special, Not Normal, tackles racism, politics, reality TV and the secret she’d take to her grave…

Gina Yashere

The London-born comedian broke America when she made it to the final 10 of Last Comic Standing and just never came home… Check out her comedy specials on Netflix and keep an eye out for upcoming TV show Bob Hearts Abishola, which she co-created with small-screen bigwig Chuck Lorre.

Margaret Cho

Bisexual triple-threat, Margaret is a comedian, actor and singer-songwriter – as well as sometimes burlesque performer – who challenges traditional notions of womanhood in her fabulously-titled stand-up specials, including Cho Dependent.

Sophie Duker

You might recognise her from C4’s prank show Riot Girls, her critically acclaimed Ed Fringe show Venus, or from co-hosting BBC Radio 4’s GrownUpLand – the fast-rising pansexual Funny Woman finalist is definitely one to look out for.
