Join Trans In The City for a week of virtual celebrations next week!
BY SOPHIE GRIFFITHS
Over the last few years, Trans In The City has come together to celebrate Trans Awareness Week in various cities across the globe. Although their physical events are cancelled this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, that certainly doesn’t mean Trans Awareness Week is cancelled! Trans folk are here, queer and very much a part of our diverse and wonderful community.
For 2020, Trans In The City will showcase the community through online webinars, panel events, positive speakers and more, all focused on highlighting the experiences of trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming individuals.
If you’re looking for a way to celebrate Trans Awareness Week, take a look at the exciting (virtual) events on offer from Trans In The City below!
Sponsored by OVO Energy and run by Bobbi Pickard the award-winning founder of Trans in the City, Mermaids Trustee and co-chair of BP Pride’s Transgender Group, this course is everything you need to bring yourself up to speed with transgender; how it affects individuals, what causes it and how society deals with the huge variety of different transgender people. Most importantly what you can do to help and be an effective ally.
This panel discussion seeks to look at the current trends and experiences of the transgender community in the UK and look forward to the future of advocacy around transgender rights and inclusion.
Despite growing public awareness of the struggles that trans individuals often face, many employers remain ill-equipped to create policies and workplace cultures that support their trans employees. Join the panel to explore tips for trans inclusion and awareness in the workplace.
This panel discusses gender diversity awareness and inclusion every day and how we can better advance advocacy around the issues that most affect our non-binary and gender non-conforming community.
Young Peoples Voices – Gender, Sexuality and Racial Discrimination – Thursday 19 November, 14:30-15:30
A panel moderated by Bobbi Pickard that answers some of the most pressing questions today. How do you people experience Gender, Sexuality and Race differently? How do we get Young Voices heard in our society and business? Is being young a diversity itself that is discriminated against?
A fireside chat between three of the four founders of Trans in the City discussing how it started and the goals they had for Trans in the City in 2018 – Highlights of the last week’s events, the last three three years and where they feel it needs to be going forward.
