Finally, some fresh Generation Q news to quench our L Word thirst

BY SOPHIE GRIFFITHS

Even if 2020 can’t be saved, 2021 is already looking so much brighter with the news that season two of The L Word: Generation Q is on its way!

Of course, a new series means some new characters and on The Word Generation Q’s Instagram story it has been revealed that lesbian legend Rosie O’Donnell will join the cast, as well as special guests Griffin Dunne (I Love Dick) and Donald Faison (Scrubs, Clueless).

According to The Wrap: “O’Donnell, who most recently starred on Showtime’s “SMILF,” will play Carrie, a brash and kindhearted public defender who is thrust into Bette’s (Jennifer Beals) life and quickly gets under her skin. Faison will play Tom, a self-deprecating editor who works with Alice (Leisha Hailey). Dunne will play Isaac, one of the biggest international art mega-dealers who Bette comes to know.”

In addition to the three guest stars, Showtime has also promoted Jordan Hull, who appeared on the first season as Bette’s daughter Angie, to series regular for season two. We couldn’t be more excited to see what life holds for Tibette’s daughter!

Showtime Entertainment President, Gary Levine, said: “The L Word: Generation Q took our original series that was revered and reinvigorated it for a new generation and a new era. The result has been a show that appeals to all generations for its relevance, its fearlessness, its emotion and its fun. I can’t wait to see what Marja, along with Ilene and this talented ensemble, will deliver for season two.”

Although Generation Q was initially scheduled to begin filming in July, production was delayed due to the global pandemic. However last week, Leisha Hailey posted a photo of the Alice show’s iconic sign, giving us a glimpse into series two and letting us know that she was back filming the legendary show.

The second season will continue to follow the intermingled lives of original characters Bette (Jennifer Beals), Shane McCutcheon (Katherine Moennig), Alice Pieszecki (Leisha Hailey), Dani NÚùez (Arienne Mandi) and more as they experience love, heartbreak, setbacks and success in L.A.

Season two is currently in production in Los Angeles and is set to premiere on Showtime next year. We’ll keep you updated!
