Devoured this month’s swoon-worthy issue of DIVA? Have we got a delicious treat for you…
Cover star Horse McDonald will be taking part in a special in conversation event at 8pm on Wednesday 14 April, live in the DIVA Facebook Community.
Launched in March 2020 to provide readers with additional support over the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, the DIVA Community has grown to over 11,000 members.
Hosted by DIVA editor-in-chief Carrie Lyell, the legendary musician will be joined by artist Roxana Halls and Imogen Gibbon, deputy director and chief curator of portraiture at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, where Roxana’s gorgeous portrait of Horse is now on display.
Horse told us: “I am really excited to share a very special evening, ‘in conversation’ with Roxana and Imogen, with Carrie taking the helm.
“We seem to live in parallel worlds but in reality we have had to face and overcome very similar difficulties and hurdles to be where we are now. I feel empowered to stand at the sides of these two wonderful and inspirational women.
“We have been united by fate, an incredible moment in time. This has created a legacy which will pay forward and be handed down the generations. This makes me incredibly humble and proud.”
Imogen said: “I can’t think of a better way to spend an hour than in the company of Horse and Roxana and to be sharing with the DIVA Community the story behind the portrait, which now hangs proudly in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.”
“It was such an adventure to realise this project,” says Roxana. “Horse is such an inspirational artist and Imogen a visionary curator and together we took an aspiration on my part to paint a portrait worthy of its subject all the way to the walls of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
“This has been one of the most rewarding and meaningful collaborations of my creative life and I can’t wait to join Horse, Imogen and our chair Carrie in telling the DIVA Community all about it.”
