Coming out live on air on Wednesday morningâs show, Gaydio Breakfast Presenter Paris Munro has affirmed their identity as trans-masculine non-binary. Paris now uses any and all pronouns (he/she/they), remarking on Wednesdayâs show âYou might have seen on my personal Instagram… but Iâm coming out now on the radio for the very first time as transmasc non-binaryâ.
âThis is really exciting for me, I go by any and all pronouns. Iâm currently taking testosterone and have done for three weeks as prescribed by my doctor. Iâm very, very happy and feel free. I may not be the first non-binary broadcaster on Gaydio, but I feel so overwhelmed with all the support that Gaydio and our listeners have given me. I feel like I can be finally who I am on the outside after 31 years. Thanks to Gaydio and the listener support, I can do this without having to leave that job that I loveâ.
Co-Host Dave Cooper was on air with Paris as they made their revelation and has since spoken out in support. âI couldnât be happier for Paris right now. Heâs so brave to do this on air, but I know there will be many people in our community who see this and will take courage and inspiration to embark on their own journeyâ. Gaydioâs Network Content Manager, Kriss Herbert, furthers: âGaydio Breakfast with Paris and Dave is going from strength to strength, and weâre delighted that Paris feels comfortable to embark on this journey and share it with the Listener. We are of course with him every step of the wayâ.
A ground-breaking moment for equality, diversity and inclusion in the broadcasting industry, Paris has since enjoyed an outburst of support from the LGBTQI community. One reader wrote in, stating: âCongratulations Paris, when you find the courage to be truly honest within yourself it comes with huge relief. I liken it to jumping out of a plane only to find halfway down you have a parachute. I know your heart will be bursting and your face will have the biggest smile x we love you xâ.
Parisâs story is testimony to the power of living honestly and authentically. The potential that this wields in supporting and affirming LGBTQI listeners across the world is palpable. Congratulations, Paris.
