Happy Monday DIVAs! We’ve got a lot to catch up on. This week has been full of exciting announcements so I won’t waste any time, let’s dive right in!
Let’s talk about the Oscar nominations
Ariana DeBose and Kristen Stewart have made history this year. This is the first year two openly LGBTQI actors have been nominated within the acting categories. This announcement is also a long overdue break in the streak of no queer actors being nominated. Ian McKellen was the first openly gay actor to be nominated for his role in Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring back in 2002.
We’re getting another Sally Rooney adaptation!
Fans have been hungry for more ever since Normal People premiered in 2020. Last week the first teaser trailer for Conversations With Friends was released. It looks set to be a wild and steamy ride.
BFI Flare is back
The coveted LGBTQI film festival is back next month. We sat down with director Alli Haapasalo to find out more about the anti-coming-of-age film Girl Picture which is showing at BFI Flare 2022.
Jennifer Beals encourages us all to fight for diverse stories
Last week in an interview with The Guardian, The L Word star opened up about her career in activism, the importance of seeing ourselves represented and what she learnt through The L Word: Generation Q. Here are the highlights!
The LGBT+ Music Festival 2022 is sure to be one hell of a party
The LGBT+ Music Festival is set to return from 1-3 July 2022, and the line-up is star-studded. Featuring Iggy Azalea, Melanie C, Little Boots, Sammy Jo (Scissor Sisters), Bimini Bon Boulash, Peaches, Jodie Harsh and many, many more! Find out more here.
It’s the season of love
Last week the latest game pack, My Wedding Stories, was released. We’re all very excited. I write about how I’ll get to live out my non-binary wedding dreams within the simulation game before I will in real life.
