Yesterday Netflix announced that a new trailer for the highly anticipated adaptation of Heartstopper would be premiering today at 2pm BST. Comments from fans in the chat box on YouTube were coming in faster than I could read them. Like everyone else I was refreshing my feed, twiddling my thumbs and holding my breath. Yes, I am more than just a little excited. I’m so ready for this show to become my entire personality from April 22.

I was already ecstatic for the release of this show when I first found out that it was in the works. My anticipation only grew once we saw the first look images. Once the time came and the trailer went live, I was mesmerised by how gloriously the magic of the books has been translated onto the screen.

For those who are new to world of Heartstopper, hello, welcome. You’re in for a lot of fun. Here’s the official Netflix synopsis to give you a taste of what’s in store:

Boy meets boy. Boys become friends. Boys fall in love. When gentle Charlie and rugby-loving Nick meet at secondary school, they quickly discover that their unlikely friendship is blossoming into an unexpected romance. Charlie, Nick and their circle of friends must navigate the ever-relatable journey of self discovery and acceptance, supporting each other as they learn to find their most authentic selves.”

Let’s talk about what else has got fans excited lately:

For starters there’s the upcoming release of this gorgeous edition of the graphic novel. Yes, I have already pre-ordered it. And yes, you should too if you haven’t already.

We also got a sneak peek at some new faces that have been introduced to the Heartstopper universe.

Author and screenwriter, Alice Oseman, posted this lovely Tweet about the actors, Rhea Norwood and Tobie Donovan, who portray Imogen and Isaac.

Are you excited to see Yasmin Finney bring the character of Elle to life? Why not check out these affirmations she shared during this years Trans Day Of Visibility.
