QFX East will bring together queer fans to meet and celebrate their favourite actors, characters, and onscreen stories

BY MILLICENT MACHELL

With Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill recently passed, LGBTQI spaces are more important than ever. QFX have organised panels, workshops and autograph sessions that queer fans and allies can enjoy in an inclusive, accessible and affirming convention. This is very needed, which is why DIVA is a proud media partner for this event.

From 13-15 May at the Hilton Tampa Downtown, attendees will be able to meet and take photos with actors from their favourite shows. The Florida-based convention’s exciting line-up will include actors from Batwoman’s Meagan Tandy and Rachel Skarsten to Reign’s Adelaide Kane. You can look forward to meet and greets with RED’s Ana Paula Valverde, Blackish’s Nicole Pacent and Season of Love’s Lily Richards.

There will be panels, workshops and meet ups with content creators like Emily Andras (Wynonna Earp, Lost Girl), Christin Baker (A Baker Production) and Hillary Esquina (Passage). There will also be discussions about minority media representation, web series creation and how to pitch your ideas in the industry, featuring a talk from our very own Linda Riley.

Other special guests include:

  • Wallis Day (Batwoman)
  • Anna Silk and Zoie Palmer (Lost Girl)
  • Arryn Zech (RWBY)
  • Erica Luttrel (Steven Universe)
  • Arlen Aguayo-Stewart, Demetria McKinney Diana Pavlovská, Ess Hödlmoser and Taylor Hickson (Motherland: Fort Salem)
  • Abisha Uhl (Sick of Sarah, Scare BnB: The Hosts)
  • Luciana Bollina (RED, Gaby Estrella, Amor Verissimo)
  • Mandahla Rose (All About E, Forever Not Maybe, Passage, Venice)
  • Sterling Victorian (The Kids are Asleep, Merry and Gay)

QFX will offer experiences both in-person and online so if you’d like to attend from home, virtual admission passes are on offer.

If that’s not enough to have you booking your ticket, there’s also a showcase of queer artists and clothing designers, a VIP guest part, game night and best of all, a queer prom. We can’t wait! You can find the entire line up and grab your tickets now at www.qfxevents.com.

DIVA magazine celebrates 28 years in print in 2022. If you like what we do, then get behind LGBTQI media and keep us going for another generation. Your support is invaluable.
