Hooray for these queer shows receiving the recognition they deserve

MTV’s Movie & TV Awards 2022 saw several big queer wins including RuPaul’s Drag Race, Heartstopper and Euphoria this Sunday.
The awards show saw Netflix’s Heartstopper win Best Musical Moment with the iconic snow scene in episode two of the series. The Beabadoobee track appeared in the hit show which is based on Alice Oseman’s graphic novel series of the same name.
HBO’s Euphoria took home four trophies including Best Show, Best Performance in a Show which was won by Zendaya, Best Fight as well as Here For the Hookup.
Zendaya accepted her award for Best Performance in a Show by video message, saying: “Thank you so, so, so much for this honour.”
She added: “Thank you to all the fans who have shown so much love to Euphoria, it means the world to the cast and crew, the show means so much to us and we really, really, really are so honoured that it means so much to you.”
The MTV Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted saw reality show RuPaul’s Drag Race win Best Competition Series as well as Best Fight for the season 14 lip sync between Bosco and Lady Camden.
Bosco accepted the award for Best Fight, thanking fans for “apparently enjoying gay people.”
She also said: “I would like to thank Lady Camden for not being here so I could accept this alone.”
RuPaul herself accepted the award for Best Competition Series alongside four of series 14’s contestants, who praised the show for its “most trans-inclusive cast in Drag Race her-story.”
RuPaul said: “I want to thank our queens, who bravely share their stories to help spread love, light and laughter around the world…this award belongs to you.”
