It’s time to get excited for Pride’s Got Talent 2019 🌈
Auditions are underway for the sixth season of Pride in London’s Pride’s Got Talent competition – the annual search for the UK’s next biggest LGBTQI+ music or cabaret act.
Following previous years, where the winners received a range of prizes and went on to perform on stage at Trafalgar Square, this year promises another exciting competition showcasing emerging talent in the LGBTQI+ performance scene.
As always, the competition will be split into two genres of Cabaret and Music, with auditions and finals taking place at venues across London, including the Two Brewers, She Soho, Ku Bar, Old Ship, The Glory, Phoenix Club, RVT and more. Eight heats will take place, followed by four semifinals – with the finalists ultimately selected from hundreds auditioning in front of a panel of industry experts. Final Pride’s Got Talent Cabaret and Music winners will be selected in late April.
Pride’s Got Talent often leads to numerous opportunities for participants following the competition. Many artists have secured ongoing employment after taking part in Pride’s Got Talent, and various Pride organisations and LGBTQI+ venues regularly book former contestants after seeing them take part. Previous winners have also been invited to perform at EuroPride and WorldPride.
Pride’s Got Talent is supported by The Musicians Union as well as being in partnership with Amazon Music UK, which returns this year as a Gold sponsor of Pride in London.
Pride’s Got Talent was conceived in 2014 with a mission to make sure that talented artists from the LGBTQI+ community were all given a fair opportunity to take part in Pride in London, as well as receiving mentoring from industry experts. Giving everyone the opportunity to apply and compete, no matter what gender, sexuality, disability or ethnicity, has been at the heart of the Pride’s Got Talent team’s mission, with the aim of bringing transparency and diversity to the Pride stages.
To apply to take part in this year’s Pride’s Got Talent, prospective contestants should submit their application via the entry form on the Pride in London website by Friday 1 March.
