The Ellen DeGeneres Show is officially under investigation as of last week, due to allegations of racism, intimidation and a toxic workplace culture.

Over the past few months, Ellen has faced an onslaught of rumours regarding her shocking behaviour when the cameras are off, even being referred to as “one of the meanest people alive.”

Three producers of the show have also been accused of groping and grooming junior staff members, asking employees for sex and creating an atmosphere on the set that is “dominated by fear”.

Reports according to the Daily Mail have now come to light saying that Ellen wants to “shut down the show” in order to “recover her personal brands.”

An insider at Telepictures, who produce the Ellen show, revealed that Ellen DeGeneres has told executives of the show that she has had enough and is ready to walk away from the show.

They said that “she feels she can’t go on and the only way to recover her personal brand from this is to shut down the show.”

They continued: “The truth is she knew what was going on, it’s her show. The buck stops with her. She can blame every executive under the sun – but Ellen is ultimately the one to blame.”

This statement comes after staff who work on the show rejected the apology issued by Ellen last week.

In her apology letter, US Weekly reported that Ellen said: “On day one of our show, I told everyone in our first meeting that The Ellen DeGeneres Show would be a place of happiness – no one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect.”

“Obviously, something changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case. And for that, I am sorry. Anyone who knows me knows it’s the opposite of what I believe and what I hoped for our show.”

As the future of the Ellen show hangs in the air, James Corden has now been tipped to replace Ellen in the daytime TV slot, much to the disappointment of the queer community.
